Saturday is a free day for us, so we all decided to head to the nearby market for a look around, and also to get us some food for brunch. We had no means of transport at that point so we had to walk the long journey there. The sun was ruthless, shining upon us making us feel as if we’re all eggs on a frying pan. People started taking their sun screens our and umbrellas.

There are quite a number of cows loitering around the empty fields surrounding the path to the market, grazing on the greens they are able to get. Cow dung was littered everywhere, you had to keep a watch out not to step on one.

When we reached the nearby market, it took us roughly around 15 to 30minutes. We were hungry so we decided to head to the nearest, friendliest eating place we could find. We managed to find a “kampong-style” looking place and settled down. All of us ordered a plate of fried rice which was really good compared to the delivered hotel food we were eating the past few days. We were then servered iced tea, which seems to be a very popular “tradition” in most of the eateries we have stopped at, probably to refresh your mouths after eating.

We continued further down the road and the girls stopped by shoe shops, bag shops, hat shops, roadside stalls and such. Sigh, girls. We got together at one point for a break at a shop selling delicious, thirst quenching sugarcane juice.

Soon after, the place was getting dark as a stormy cloud floats over the market. Large winds started coming in blowing up dirt, sand and wind into our faces. And finally, it started to drizzle. We quickened our paces to the direction back to the hostel grabbing what we had purchased earlier along with us. Halfway through, a taxi stopped by us as we were brisk walking and we were fine if it could give us a lift back to the hostel. The fare was very cheap.
